E-Scooter Insurance Explained

When buying a car, you immediately think of everything else that you are going to need to buy alongside it. The insurance, the tax, the petrol, and the list seems to go on. When buying an e-scooter, the range of things to think of aren’t as high. E-scooter insurance certainly is a thing, but it isn’t compulsory, and that is what we will speak about more in-depth here.

Can I Insure My E-Scooter?

Your e-scooter certainly can be insured. There are a whole, wide range of insurance that covers certain things for your e-scooter, and it may be a good idea especially if you are spending a lot on one.

The e-scooter insurance will cover and/or protect your electric scooter from any kind of damage caused to you, someone else, or the scooter, or theft that may have occurred. Some different companies or insurers will provide different cover so it is always important to check this beforehand.

It will be easy to do a quick google search for e-scooter insurance providers and get a comparison of different prices to find yourself the best quote! Here is an example of a quotes site you can take a look for yourself on.

Is It Illegal To Ride Without E-Scooter Insurance?

No, it is not a legal requirement to have e-scooter insurance. As mentioned before, the insurance is more for having personal cover for yourself rather than anyone else. However, this rule might change as the laws on e-scooters change and gets updated.

Please ensure you check the recent laws and regulations around e-scooters in your county/country.

Do I Need A Licence To Ride An E-Scooter?

If you are looking at riding one of the public E-Scooters (which are for the trial tests – Lime, Beryl scooters etc…), then you will need a valid driving license to ride one. You will likely also need to be 18 or over but check this beforehand.
