All electric scooter fanatics (including as us here at Scooter Street) want to know how to get the best out of their e-scooter. Now that’s a lot of information to cover! So today we’re going to run through some tips and tricks to getting the most out of the driving force behind your e-scooter, the battery.

At an average, an e-scooter battery should last either 2 and a half years, or around four-hundred charge cycles. Outside of the battery itself, there are some factors you can control to maximise the lifespan of your e-scooter’s battery.

Battery Tips And Tricks

Make sure to not let the battery run out completely, to extend its life its best to charge up your e-scooter before that 10% charge goes down to zero… It’s also good practice if you remember to charge it after every use! (But give the battery 15 minutes to cool down before you do).

If you plan on storing your e-scooter for a long time, make sure to charge it up first. The batteries tend to stick around for longer when left with some power.

Another storage tip is to keep your e-scooter at the right temperature. Neither extreme hot nor cold is good for the battery, this is especially important to remember if storing over the winter! On the other hand, don’t leave an e-scooter laying in the sun. Being too hot and too cold are both going to reduce the battery life of your e-scooter.

Unfortunately, e-scooter batteries don’t last forever. However, stay vigilant and keep good care of your e-scooter’s battery and you should be able to get more life out of it.

Getting A New Battery

A good time to replace a battery is when you notice the range of your e-scooter rides getting shorter and shorter. When you’re down to just half the normal range it might be an idea to get a new battery. It’s up to you when they think it’s a good time to switch out the battery for a new one, but its good to know the signs of battery wear to know when it’s on the way out.
